The Role

Digital devices and information communication technology are present in almost every investigation the police undertake. These range from complex corporate computer networks and high capacity server/workstations, to mobile phone handsets, games consoles, digital CCTV systems and satellite navigation. 
Applications are now invited for the post of Technical Assistant - Digital Forensic Team within the Surrey Digital Forensic Team, (DFT).
The Technical Assistant will provide technical support and assistance to Digital Forensic Analysts and investigators including the forensic imaging of hard disk drives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will initiate the imaging of digital devices and pass findings in an auditable way for assessment, verification and reporting by the Digital Forensic Analyst. They will also be accountable for exhibit handling and administrative duties to assist Digital Forensic Analysts. A sound knowledge of the governing legislation, procedures and policies is therefore essential.

The Technical Assistant will also assist analysts with the technical administrative tasks to ensure efficiency of workflows including the effective utilisation of work-stations.
